Back with the 4th installment of our series supporting local businesses. That’s a whole month of sharing the love for Norwich businesses! With small hints in the media that lockdown restrictions may soon be changing, we’ve got our fingers crossed that we will soon be able to support these guys in person (safely). But, in the meantime, why not get some of your weekly shop from one of today’s picks …

(We always like to remind you that the information shared in these blog posts is accurate to the best of our knowledge, however, we recommend contacting each business directly for up-to-date, accurate details)

1.The Red Lion Eaton (Prepared meals)

Now, if you follow us on Instagram, you will have heard us shouting about our local pub – The Red Lion in Eaton. The team at The Red Lion are now offering a takeaway service from Friday to Sunday (12-7pm), with a delicious menu including fish and chips, and chicken katsu curry. Keep an eye on their website and Instagram account (@theredlioneaton) for menu updates. https://www.redlion-eaton.co.uk/

To order, DM them on social media, email them at theredlioneaton@aol.com, or call on 01603454787.

2.Tofurei (Tofu and vegan products)

Tofurei describe themselves as “soya alchemists”, and offer 100% vegan products and tofu. They have recently had to move stores and we’re sure they would appreciate the support in their new location.

They are now operating a home delivery service including their tofu, pastry, cheese, pizzas, milk, and cakes. It is important to note that their menu changes every week, so it’s best to check their social media accounts (@tofurei) or visit their website to sign up for their mailing list. http://tofurei.co.uk/

3.Clarkes Butchery and Farm Kitchen (Butchers and more)

A family-run butchery and farm kitchen, Clarkes are running a delivery service for their locally sourced meats, homemade pies, and treats. They have some fabulous deals available for VE day, including sirloin steaks.

They are taking orders and payment over the phone and will deliver to your door on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Just call on 01603 754233 or check out their website for more information: https://www.clarkesbutchery.co.uk/

4.The Book Hive (Books)

Give Amazon a rest (Jeff Bezos doesn’t need the cash!) and order some books from a lovely local business like The Book Hive. You can order books (for all ages!) via their website with free postage and packaging. They also offer hand-picked reading packs – what a great idea!

Visit their website for details on how to purchase: www.thebookhive.co.uk

5.Strangers (Coffee)

What could be better than a hot cup of coffee whilst you read? We’re sure a lot of you are no strangers to Strangers, Norwich’s specialty coffee roasters. You may not be able to sit in either of their cafés, but you can still pop in for a takeaway, or order coffee bags from their website. They are running a delivery service, and aim to deliver your coffee to your door the day following your order (so you don’t have to go without for long!).

Visit them at www.strangerscoffee.com/coffee

As per usual, please let us know if you have any suggestions of businesses that we should feature in this series. We’d also love to hear if you’ve used any of the local businesses that we’ve shared.

Stay safe and shop local!
